Brno City Award for Professor Diblík and other BUT personalities
Positive contribution to society and the good name of the city was awarded by the City Council with the traditional Brno City Award. This year, three representatives of our University received the award. Mayor Markéta Vaňková presented the award to mathematician Josef Diblík from the Faculty of Civil Engineering of the BUT, physicist Ilona Müllerová from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Communication Technologies of the BUT and architect Mark Štěpán from the Faculty of Architecture of the BUT.
Our faculty nominated for the award Professor Josef Diblik, DrSc., who has been working here since the 1980s. He was for many years the head of the Department of Mathematics and Descriptive Geometry at the FAST BUT. In his scientific and pedagogical work, he is mainly devoted to applied mathematics, specializing in problamatics important for technical fields: stability of solutions of systems modeled by equations of various types, their controllability and stabilization. He makes a significant contribution to linking the field of applied mathematics with technically oriented areas, e.g. automatic control systems.
Prof. Diblík is the author of more than 250 scientific papers. He publishes his research results in top international journals and serves as a member of the editorial board of several of them. He has been a guest lecturer at many foreign universities, for example in Austria, Germany and South America. He has received several awards for his work in the field of science and research, including the M. M. Bogolyubov Medal for outstanding mathematical achievements.
Congratulations to our dear colleague and to the other awardees!
