Specialised Project – Building Design

Akademický rok 2026/27

BHA067-A předmět zařazen v 1 studijním plánu

BPA-SIS letní semestr 3. ročník

The subject is directly related to the preparation of a bachelor's thesis and serves as its professional support.

The aim of the course is to deepen students’ ability to approach building design in a comprehensive manner, with a focus on architectural and structural solutions, building physics, and related technical aspects. Within the scope of a given assignment (e.g. a family house or mixed-use building), students analyse and design thermal insulation systems, daylighting, acoustics, fire safety, and address fundamental spatial and visual aspects of the design. The outputs include technical reports and a presentable design poster.

Course curriculum

  1. Introduction to the seminar. Preparation of drawing documentation. Structure of final reports.
  2. Thermal performance assessment of building structures in accordance with current standards.
  3. Thermal performance assessment of building structures in accordance with current standards.
  4. Thermal performance assessment of building structures in accordance with current standards.
  5. Acoustics and daylighting. Evaluation based on ČSN standards.
  6. Acoustics and daylighting. Evaluation based on ČSN standards.
  7. Fire safety design. Requirements evaluation and proposal.
  8. Fire safety design. Requirements evaluation and proposal.
  9. Architectural and urbancontextofthebuilding.
  10. Visualpresentationofthe design and poster preparation.
  11. Finalisation and submission.
  12. Finalisation and submission.
  13. Finalisation and submission.
  • Professional Knowledge

The student will acquire knowledge of comprehensive building design, with emphasis on spatial, architectural-structural, and technical requirements. They will become familiar with the application of building physics principles (thermal performance, acoustics, daylighting), fire safety requirements, and the basic aesthetic and urban context of the design.

  • Professional Skills

The student will be able to independently design a basic architectural and structural solution for a simple residential or public-use building. They will be capable of analysing and evaluating building physics parameters, designing material layers, and assessing requirements related to lighting, acoustics, and fire safety. The student will be able to integrate these aspects into a coherent building design.

  • Competence

The student will be competent to prepare a design of a simple building structure at the level corresponding to basic project documentation. They will be able to collaborate on design tasks within a team, justify their design decisions, and apply relevant codes and standards in the comprehensive technical, functional, and aesthetic evaluation of buildings.
