About the programmes

Civil engineering at FCE can be studied in English at all three levels. The bachelor’s and master’s programmes are built around building design and construction. The six doctoral programmes then cover the field in depth, from structures and materials to water management and geodesy. Each programme admits up to 48 students a year, so you study in small groups and know your lecturers by name.

The academic year opens in mid-September. Teaching in the winter semester ends just before Christmas, and January is the examination period. The summer semester starts in early February and follows the same pattern: teaching until mid-May, then examinations in late May and June. July and August are free of teaching, so most international students use the summer to travel or go home before the next year begins. Exact dates are in the academic calendar.

We admit applicants from anywhere in the world. Depending on where you come from you may need a visa, and all programmes taught in English charge tuition.
