Russian for Intermediate Students (exam)

VYR051 course is not part of any programme in the faculty

The content of the exam is based on the textbooks Raduga po novomu 4–5 and tests general Russian language skills at an intermediate level. The exam consists of a written test that assesses grammar and vocabulary knowledge, reading comprehension, and the ability to write a short text in Russian. The time allotted for the exam is 2 hours.

Entry Knowledge

Students should prepare for the exam by mastering the grammar and vocabulary covered in the Raduga po novomu 4–5 textbooks. They should also revise grammar and vocabulary from Raduga po novomu 1–3. Their language skills should be at an intermediate level.

Grammar topics include: numerals, verb conjugation, reflexive verbs, infinitive, declension of nouns, adjectives and pronouns, animate and inanimate nouns, indeclinable nouns, prepositional phrases, dates, basic tenses, telling time, comparison of adjectives, conditional sentences, imperative mood, verb phrases, and aspect of verbs.

Vocabulary topics include: introductions, making phone calls, nationalities, visiting somebody, family, occupations, leisure time, hobbies, school, city navigation, means of transport, shopping, meeting friends, appearance, parts of the body, clothing, personal traits, seasons, weather, travel, ecology, at the airport, eating habits, lifestyle, foreign languages, housing, health and sports, business negotiations. 

 

Aims

This exam corresponds to level B1 according to the CEFR. It assesses whether students have acquired vocabulary from general Russian and have mastered grammar rules at the required level.
