Teaching methods depend on the type of course unit as specified in the article 7 of BUT Rules for Studies and Examinations.
Objective
Calculation and design of modern weir gates of movable weirs- flap gate, radial gate, inflatable gate. Informative static calculaiton of the gates. Evaluation of suitability with respect to handling regulations for uptakes and maximal discharges diversion.

Syllabus of lectures
1. Detail introduction to history of weir structures.
2. Sealing of weir body and weir wing underlay.
3. Overflow of fixed weir sill of movable weirs with high degree of submerge by downstream water, calculation of overflow consumption curve.
4. Surface hydraulic jump, divergent stilling pool.
5. Calculation and design of inflatable weirs – design of fixed low sill and calculation of consumption curve of overflow.
6. Calculation and design of inflatable weirs – design of inflatable structure and calculation of consumption curve of overflow.
7. Calculation and design of downstream apron including lining.
8. Design and calculation of inflatable weir equipment.
9. Informative static calculation of flap gate.
10. Informative static calculation of radial gate.
11. Informative static calculation of elements of stop logs and needle flashboard.
12. Principals of elaboration of weir handling regulations (in system).
13. Excursion.
