June 2026 Graduation Ceremonies: Congratulations to Our New Civil Engineers!
From 29 June to 1 July 2026, graduation ceremonies for bachelor’s and master’s graduates were held at the Faculty of Civil Engineering, Brno University of Technology. Over the course of three days, students from both full-time and part-time study programmes received their diplomas amid enthusiastic applause from their families and loved ones.
Graduates completed one of the most important “constructions” of their lives in June. They have laid solid foundations for a promising career, overcome numerous obstacles, and built their own path towards the future.
The June graduation ceremonies marked the joyful conclusion of a long project called studies, which primarily tested the perseverance and discipline of all students, as well as their curiosity and desire to discover and learn – an essential part of everyday life. In their speeches, the graduates expressed their heartfelt thanks above all to their parents, life partners, and loved ones who supported them throughout their studies.
Bachelor’s graduation ceremonies
A total of 409 graduates successfully completed their bachelor’s studies at the Faculty of Civil Engineering, Brno University of Technology, including 20 graduates who graduated with distinction.
For the academic year 2025/2026, a total of 90 bachelor’s thesis awards were granted. Two of these awards were presented by the Association of Heating and Plumbing Contractors (Cech topenářů a instalatérů).
Master’s graduation ceremonies
Master’s degrees were awarded during the June graduation ceremonies to 56 graduates of the study programmes Geodesy and Cartography and Architecture and Urban Development. Of these, 37 graduates achieved distinction.
These graduates joined another 300 master’s graduates from the programmes Civil Engineering (Czech programme) and Civil Engineering (English programme), who had already completed their graduation ceremonies in February 2026.
Dean Karel Šuhajda acknowledged the effort and determination with which the graduates dedicated themselves to their studies over several years and successfully completed them. He particularly emphasised the personal responsibility that awaits graduates in their professional careers.
In the academic year 2025/2026, the highest number of graduates at FCE BUT completed the specialisation Building Construction. The second most common specialisation was Sustainable Building Design, closely followed by Structural and Transport Engineering, as well as the study programme Architecture.
A total of 31 master’s thesis awards were presented during the graduation ceremonies.
Graduates will receive a link to photographs and video recordings via their BUT email addresses by the end of July 2026.
Sustainability, Even at Graduation
The diploma covers for our new graduates were made as part of teaching at the Lomená Vocational School in Brno, which educates students with special educational needs and various levels of support measures. The new printing die used to emboss the gold and silver logo onto the covers is made from a special magnesium plate; after neutralization, the etching process produces a high-quality plant fertilizer.
Over the three days of graduation ceremonies, our popular free chilled water dispensing station was again available to all visitors, with no app required. Students and staff at the faculty have been filling their own bottles with high-quality filtered tap water – both still and sparkling – since 2018, saving dozens of tons of plastic every year.
Strong employability of graduates
The number of graduates from the Faculty of Civil Engineering, Brno University of Technology (FCE BUT) has been steadily increasing in recent years. Growing interest in civil engineering studies directly reflects the rising demand on the labour market for qualified construction professionals.
High-quality education with an emphasis on practical skills at the Faculty of Civil Engineering, BUT makes its graduates highly sought-after experts with wide employment opportunities in the Czech Republic and abroad. This is also evidenced by the fact that approximately 84% of students already have qualified employment during their studies.
From September, first-year students at FCE BUT will enter a new 3+2 study model (3 years of bachelor’s studies + 2 years of follow-up master’s studies), which shortens the standard duration of university education to five years. This change reflects current demands for greater efficiency and flexibility in higher education.
Congratulations to all our new graduates! We wish you every success in your further studies, professional careers, and personal lives – may all your projects be built on solid foundations.
