Erasmus+ BIP – Brno 2026 at Faculty of Civil Engineering, BUT
From 20 to 24 April 2026, the Faculty of Civil Engineering at Brno University of Technology hosted the Blended Intensive Programme (BIP) titled “Application of numerical methods for mechanical behaviour analysis and experimental comparison”, organized under the supervision of Prof. Stanislav Seitl.
Erasmus BIPs are short, international educational programmes that combine online classes with a few or more days of study at a partner foreign university. They enable learning based on teamwork and innovative teaching methods.
The programme brought together students from eight European universities, including institutions from Spain, Slovakia, Poland, Austria, and the Czech Republic, creating a dynamic international learning environment:
- University of Malaga, Spain
- University of Žilina, Slovakia
- Faculty of Civil Engineering STU Bratislava, Slovakia
- Wrocław University of Science and Technology, Poland
- University of Koszalin, Poland
- University of Warmia and Mazury in Olsztyn, Poland
- Vienna University of Technology, Austria
- Brno University of Technology, Czech Republic
The programme combined theoretical lectures by Prof. Jacek Katzer, Prof. Grzegorz Lesiuk, Prof. Alexander Hartmaier, Prof. David Lehky, Prof. Stanislav Seitl, Prof. Radka Kantova, Dr. Lucie Malikova, MSc. Mohammad Al Khazali, practical workshops with project (by Dr. Rostislav Lang, Dr. David Juračka, Dr. Marie Horňáková, MSc. Zbyněk Zajac, MSc. Ondrej Holiš), and applied activities. Participants worked on structural models, explored numerical approaches, and compared their results with experimental observations. Technical visits were also included, providing valuable insight into real engineering practice (Lookout tower in the shape of hyperboloid and Former monastery of the Voršilki).
Throughout the programme, students demonstrated a high level of engagement, collaboration, and creativity. Their final outcomes reflected a strong ability to connect theoretical knowledge with practical implementation.
Students Team Building Competition Results
- First Place: Farshad Ameri (Wien), Karolina Hendrych (Koszalin), Mateusz Boron (Wroclaw), Vadym Hryhoriy Zayets (Bratislava)
- Second Place: Bartlomiej Myjak (Wroclaw), Branislav Kurila (Bratislava), Kornelia Wolska (Olsztyn), Wiktor Ziólkowski (Koszalin)
- Third Place: Ivan Hubynets (Zilina), Kacper Puzycki (Koszalin), Maciej Roszak (Wroclaw), Marta Garcia Montilla (Malaga)
Beyond the academic component, the programme provided an excellent platform for international cooperation, enabling participants to exchange experiences and establish professional connections across institutions.
We would like to thank all partner universities, colleagues, and students for their contribution to the successful implementation of this programme. We look forward to continuing and further developing this collaboration in the future.
The next ERASMUS+ BIP focused on Fracture mechanics and fatigue lifetime predictions of structures will be organized in 04/2027, follow the website:
