Syllabus

  1. Introduction, basic terms, river basin, rainfall-runoff process.
  2. Climatological measures - precipitation.
  3. Climatological measures - atmospheric humidity, evaporation.
  4. Geographical measures of a river basin.
  5. Water level and water discharge measurement.
  6. Statistical analysis of hydrological data.
  7. Approximation of empirical distributions by theoretical distributions used in hydrology, regression models.
  8. Analysis of hydrological time series, basic of stochastic hydrology, artificial discharge series.
  9. Derivation of discharge series, determination of annual flow, introduction to extreme discharges.
  10. Methodology of evaluation of maximum and minimum discharges.
  11. Prediction of water level and discharges, basic types of models.
  12. Fluvial processes and sediments.
  13. Ground water, springs and aquifer flows.

  2. Average total rainfall in the catchment.
  3. Rainfall intensity evaluation.
  4. Determination of theoretical rainfall intensity in a small catchment.
  5. Snow melting - Degree a day method.
  6. Hydrometric evaluation.
  7. Time series analysis and statistical processing of the real flow serie.
  8. Time series analysis and statistical processing of the real flow serie. 
  9. Generation of synthetic flow series.
  10. Maximum flow determination from the measured data.
  11. Maximum flow determination in the gauging profile of a small basin.
  12. Minimum flow determination from the measured data.
  13. Final output evaluation of practical session.
