Lecture

13 weeks, 2 hours/week, elective

Syllabus

1. Basics of bearing structure design and realization problems. Material and selection of structural members of steel structures. 2. Single-storey steel buildings (disposition, configuration of structures, roof cladding, roof purlins, roof girders, construction of the crane track, columns, column foot and anchorage, space rigidity). 3. Multi-storey buildings with a steel framework (criteria of design, actions, parts of steel structures and their connections, space rigidity). 4. Spatial member systems. 5. Metal bridges and footbridges (parts of a construction, bearings and shutters, assembling of bridges and footbridges). 6. Special metal structures (tanks, stacks, silos, high diameter pipelines, towers and masts, structures of technical equipment). 7. Properties of the wood and wood-based materials (mechanical properties of timber material, basic design parameters, requirements of structure conditions). 8. Ultimate states of the timber structures, principles of their design. 9. Basic types of stress of members and parts of timber structures. 10. Connections in timber structures. 11. Plate and truss timber girders, frames and arches. 12. Spatial timber constructions. 13. Production, assembly, protection and maintenance of timber structures.

Exercise
