1. Introduction to the subject (terminology, case studies).
2. Types of geomaterials (soils, rocks, light materials, geosynthetics) and their properties.
3. Mathematical modeling in geotechnics.
4. Stiffness and strength of soils.
5. Constitutive models – elasticity and perfect plasticity.
6. Constitutive models – plasticity with hardening.
7. Shallow foundations.
8. Pile and combined fundations.
9. Retaining structures.
10. Underground structures.
11. Monitoring in geotechnics.
Exercise

Syllabus
1. Basic tasks in geotechnics and their solutions.
2. Determination of properties geomaterials.
3. Exercise in laboratory – oedometric test.
4. Exercise in laboratory – triaxial test (CD).
5. Exercise in laboratory – permeability test.
6. Evaluation of laboratory tests.
7. Shallow foundations.
8. Pile and combined fundations.
