Objective

The objective of the subject is to introduce students to the problems of design of railway stops, goods points and operation control points, especially railway stations and to practise acquires knowledge and skills.

Syllabus

1. Operating control points and open track, basic terms. Division of operating control points, a division of railway stations according to the position in railway network. Tracks in railway stations, tracks numeration, symbols of tracks, track length, distances of track centre lines.
2. Basic transport regulations, train diagram, train schedule of railway stations. Time diagram of station operation, track occupation diagram, operating efficiency, making up of trains.
3. Railway stations – railhead, intermediate.
4. Railway stations – connection and junction.
5. Railway junctions, transit and exchange railway stations.
6. Track alignment design parameters in control operation points and other operation points
7. Railway superstructure, substructure and its drainage in railway stations
8. Construction of platforms, pedestrian subways and footbridges.
9. Platform requirements.
10. Platforms for persons with reduced mobility r

Prerequisites

Track alignment design parameters and its spatial positions, railway track design.
Railway substructure, subdivision and construction of rail substructure and its construction layers, construction and shape of the earth formation
Railway superstructure and modern railway structure design, the interaction between railway vehicle and track, switches, crossings and turnouts.

Format and content of drawings – setting out a drawing, longitudinal profile. 4. Submitting of the first project, specifying of the second project. 5. Changes of track axes distances, station scheme. 6. Design of railway substructure in a railway station. 7. Format and content of drawings – the situation of the railway station. 8. Platforms, ramps. 9. Technical report. 10.–12. Consultation of projects. 13. Submitting of the second projects, credit.
