Objective
Gaining knowledge about the creating and update large-scale maps and their uses.
Get an overview of the related regulations.
The ability to distinguish qualitative parameters of large-scale maps.

Student will manage basic theoretical knowledge and practical skills of the creation and update large-scale maps.
Syllabus
Introduction, definition of basic concepts, terminology, maps (graphical, numerical, GIS), national map series, geodetic controls, reference systems, numbering of geodetic points.
Basic forms of terrain relief, ways representation of hypsography in large-scale maps, interpolation and construction of contour lines.
Surveying sketch creation, content, terms, used symbolism, sketch completing.
Methods for large-scale mapping. Type tasks.
Operation and setting total station for large-scale mapping, registration of measured data, downloading data, Application of mathematical and physical correction of measured lengths.
Computer processing of the measured data, methods of solution, potential pitfalls.
Basic and thematic large-scale maps - layout and labeling of map sheets, norms for creation, classification, content, methods of representation of contents. INSPIRE Directive of the European Parliament, the digital map of public administration, digital technical maps, technical map of the village.
Basic and thematic large-scale maps - map symbols, accuracy class, testing of the accuracy, graphic design.
Other options for data capture (GNSS - RTK, FTG, mobile mapping, laser scanning).
DTM, DSM, DEM (Atlas DMT), visualizations, outputs.
Recapitulation, consultation, information on the content of the written and verbal parts of exam.
Prerequisites
Handling with total station and other geodetic instruments, coordinate computations in geodetic software, work with MicroStation environment including geodetic extensions.

Introduction to related regulations, the use of WMS for mapping, portal CUZK, Internet Viewer of geographic military data
Interpolation and construction of contour lines
Creation of surveying sketch
Creation of thematic large-scale map - 5 weeks
Testing the accuracy of altimetry created thematic map by control profile
Road profiling and creation of longitudinal profile and cross sections
Consultation, completion of programs
