English Language Tutorial for PhD Students

The subject comprises six tutorials. Students read English scientific literature connected with their research. It can be a book, its part or a set of papers. The text should be 120-150 pages long. Students chose texts whose topic is useful for their research. The tutor approves of the texts. Students hand in 10-20 key terms with their translation and its source. Student also hand in a written summary of the text(s). It should be approx. one page long.

Entry Knowledge
Students must have a command of general English higher than the level of CEFR, and they must have completed the DY02 course.
Aims
Mastering the vocabulary of the field and the basic regularities of technical translation.
Knowledge of a certain amount of the technical vocabulary of the respective field and the grammatical features characteristic of the professional language style.
