Objective

Calculation and design of modern weir gates of movable weirs- flap gate, radial gate, inflatable gate. Informative static calculaiton of the gates. Evaluation of suitability with respect to handling regulations for uptakes and maximal discharges diversion.

Syllabus

1. Detail introduction to history of weir structures
2. Sealing of weir body and weir wing underlay
3. Overflow of fixed weir sill of movable weirs with high degree of
submerge by downstream water, calculation of overflow consumption
curve
4. Surface hydraulic jump, divergent stilling pool
5. Calculation and design of inflatable weirs:
- design of fixed low sill and calculation of consumption curve
of overflow
6. – design of inflatable structure and calculation of consumption
curve of overflow
7. – calculation and design of downstream apron including lining
8. – design and calculation of inflatable weir equipment
9. Informative static calculation of flap gate
10. Informative static calculation of radial gate
11. Informative static calculation of elements of stop logs and needle flashboard
12. Principals of elaboration of weir handling regulations (in system)
13. Excursion
