The use of radiometric methods for measuring the density and humidity of building materials. Design and realization of shielding structures against the effects of ionizing radiation. Radiographic investigation of the course of reinforcement in reinforced concrete structures and pre-stressed concrete structures.
The aim of the subject is to acquaint students with the use of ionizing radiation in the building industry. Graduates will be able to consider the possibilities of using radiometric and radiographic methods in the building industry and will have basic knowledge about technical protection against the effects of ionizing radiation.
Graduate from faculty of civil engineering, knowledge of subjects specialized in building testing, diagnostic equipment, building survey and quality management.
Planned educational activities and teaching methods
Teaching methods depend on the type of course unit as specified in the article 7 of BUT Rules for Studies and Examinations.
Forms and criteria of assessment
Students prepare and defend the seminar work on the chosen topic in the length of about 10 pages.
Acquainting of students with latest flaw detection and other methods used for building materials and structures testing, seminar thesis elaborating with entries of suitable testing methods in relation to the diploma thesis theme.
Specification of controlled instruction, the form of instruction, and the form of compensation of the absences

Syllabus of lectures
1.–4. Assignment and processing of research in the field of radiation methods in the building industry.
5.–8. Seminar thesis entry and its consultation.
9.–13. Final consultation, seminar thesis submission, oral examination.
