Entry Knowledge
Students should have a good command of the Russian alphabet, vocabulary, and conversation on the following topics: introductions, phone conversations, nationalities, visiting someone, family, occupations, leisure time, hobbies, and school.
They should also master the following grammar topics: numerals, verb conjugation, reflexive verbs, declension of nouns and pronouns, dates, past tense, and formal address.
Aims
The aim of the course is to achieve a pre-intermediate level in Russian vocabulary and grammar, as well as the student’s ability to read, translate, and produce moderately complex Russian texts. The student will meet the course objectives if they reach a pre-intermediate level in Russian vocabulary and grammar and are able to read, translate, and create moderately complex Russian texts.

Lesson 3: Education; timetable; declension of pronouns (who, what); prepositional constructions
Lesson 4: Education; types of schools; declension of nouns (masculine and feminine gender, singular)
Lesson 5: Getting around the city; conjugation of the verbs to go/walk, can
Lesson 6: Means of transport; infinitive constructions
Lesson 7: Shopping; conjugation of the verbs to buy, ask,take; nominative and genitive plural of selected nouns
Lesson 8: Shopping; clothes; food; movable -o- and -e- in nouns; accusative plural of animate and inanimate nouns
Lesson 9: Landmarks; declension of nouns (neuter gender, singular)
Lesson 10: Landmarks; indeclinable nouns; prepositional constructions – revision
Lesson 11: Prague – landmarks; nominative and genitive plural of nouns (feminine and neuter gender)
