Subject deals with advanced methods of energy assessment of buildings using energy audit and energy assessment. The methodology of energy audit and energy assessment will be taught here in the context of domestic and foreign practice. Emphasis will be placed on the mathematical and physical computational model, as well as compliance with existing legislation.

The student carries out an analysis of the current condition of a building in terms of energy flows and the thermal properties of the building envelope.

The student compiles an energy balance sheet for the purposes of an energy audit and an energy assessment.

  • 1. Current legislation in the Czech Republic governing energy audits and energy assessments. The application of energy audits and energy assessments in the construction industry.
  • 2. Methodology for preparing energy assessments; types of assessments.
  • 3. Special cases involving the application of energy audits.
  • 4. Methods for assessing the building envelope in an energy audit.
  • 5. Methods for assessing building services systems in energy audits.
  • 6. Proposing measures to improve energy efficiency in energy audits.
  • 7. Compiling suitable options for energy-saving measures.
  • 8. Economic calculations in energy audits for the baseline and proposed states.
  • 9. Assessment of emissions in energy audits; environmental assessment.
  • 10. Concepts of energy management and the fundamentals of facility management; a brief description of the BREEAM and LEED methodologies.
