Forms and criteria of assessment
Entry Knowledge
Fundamentals of mathematics and physics, fundamentals of structural mechanics, fundamentals of elasticity and strength of materials, basic principles of design of metal and timber structures.
Aims
Professional knowledge
- The student will learn the basic principles of work with computational models of load-bearing structures with an emphasis on metal and timber structures. Knowledge of selected areas of design and execution of structures, particularly regarding anchoring, production, transportation and assembly of structures, protection against corrosion, design of details and project documentation will be gained.
Professional skills
- The student is able to create a computational model of a load-bearing structure, perform an analysis and interpret its results. The student is able to design the anchoring of the structure to the foundations, design selected details of structures and protection of metal structures against corrosion. The student is able to apply knowledge related to the production, transportation and execution of structures.
Professional competencies
- The student is able to solve tasks related to the design and execution of metal and timber load-bearing structures. After completing of the course, the student is qualified to further education in advanced problems of design of load-bearing structures.
