The Vice Dean for Faculty Development is primarily responsible for:

  • Strategy concerning activities within the Vice Dean’s scope of responsibility – developing and implementing the vision for Faculty development in the areas of infrastructure, investments, and spatial organisation in accordance with the overall Faculty strategy set by the Dean and the Strategic Plan of BUT and the Faculty; preparing conceptual proposals and measures for the long-term development of the Faculty, including risk management and sustainability.
  • Strategic plan – preparation, discussion, and updating of the Faculty’s strategic plan; cooperation in the preparation of the BUT Strategic Plan; maintenance of a unified risk management framework.
  • Infrastructure and investments – modernisation and development of the Faculty, including the preparation and implementation of investment projects.
  • Spaces and property – usability of Faculty spaces; coordination of related projects.
  • Infrastructure projects, and cooperation with the business sector and local authorities – coordination of projects under the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports development programmes for infrastructure and cooperation with industry; European programmes relevant to infrastructure and investments (including corporate scholarships).
  • Expert services and supplementary activities – methodology, contractual frameworks, and coordination of the Faculty’s expert services in cooperation with the Vice Dean for Marketing and Internationalisation; oversight of supplementary activities.
  • Lifelong learning for industry – conception and development of lifelong learning (LLL) for industry (in coordination with the Vice Dean for Bachelor’s and Master’s Studies for accredited forms); licenses for operators/crane operators/riggers.
  • Compliance – protection of personal data (GDPR, Act No. 110/2019 Coll.) in cooperation with relevant BUT bodies; coordination of activities under the Gender Equality Plan (GEP).
  • ESG – coordination and methodological guidance of the administration of environmental, social, and governance (ESG) aspects of Faculty activities in relation to strategic BUT documents, the requirements of funding providers and relevant legislation; cooperation with relevant bodies of the Faculty and BUT.
  • Sustainability – conception and support of sustainable Faculty development, especially in the areas of energy and resource management, investments, and the operation and development of infrastructure, in alignment with Faculty and BUT strategies.
  • Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) and Fire Protection – oversight in the area of workplace safety for employees and students; management of OHS risk (identification and evaluation); monitoring of updates to relevant OHS and fire protection documentation.

Cooperation and Cross-cutting Areas:

  • AdMaS Centre – the substantive agenda in the area of research and development falls under the Vice Dean for Research and Knowledge Transfer; the development and infrastructure agenda falls under the Vice Dean for Faculty Development; the relationship, communication and presentation agenda is managed in cooperation with the Vice Dean for Marketing and Internationalisation.
  • Expert services – external and institutional relations in the area of the Faculty’s expert services, particularly links to the Ministry of Justice, professional bodies, and expert commissions; methodological external communication and the representation of the Faculty in this area are ensured by the Vice Dean for Marketing and Internationalisation; the performance of expert services at  the Faculty, methodological management, contractual frameworks and resource coordination are ensured by the Vice Dean for Faculty Development; during the absence of the Vice Dean for Faculty Development, the Vice Dean for Marketing and Internationalisation, or alternatively the Dean, shall represent them as necessary to ensure the continuous provision of expert services. The internal division of specific areas of expert services among the vice deans may be determined by a Dean’s decision or by mutual agreement.
  • GDPR and GEP – coordination falls under the Vice Dean for Faculty Development, in cooperation with relevant university bodies.
  • ITC (Information Technology Centre) – conceptual and methodological cooperation with the ITC in the areas of digital support for studies, R&D and internal Faculty processes is the responsibility of the respective Vice Deans, in cooperation with the Faculty’s Chief Financial Officer and relevant bodies of BUT.

All vice deans, in cooperation with the management of Brno University of Technology, the Dean, the Chief Financial Officer, and responsible staff members of the Faculty, shall in particular:

  • ensure compliance with legal regulations relating to higher education institutions and with the internal regulations of Brno University of Technology and the Faculty,
  • assess the effectiveness of the Faculty’s internal regulations and submit proposals for their amendment,
  • implement the strategic plan of Brno University of Technology and the Faculty; within the scope of their responsibilities, they shall submit proposals for updates to it,
  • implement the Dean’s decisions, directives, and instructions and, within the scope of their responsibilities, ensure the supervision of said regulations,
  • actively participate in the Dean’s advisory bodies; within the scope of their responsibilities, they shall manage, coordinate, or provide methodological guidance to the relevant commissions, working groups and advisory bodies of the Faculty, provided that their establishment, composition, or activities arise from the Faculty’s internal regulations or from a Dean’s decision; they may also establish their own advisory bodies,
  • ensure the organisational and substantive arrangements are made for the holding of appropriate academic ceremonies within the scope of their responsibilities,
  • prepare source materials for the Faculty’s promotional and information materials in relation to their area of responsibility,
  • cooperate in addressing matters related to the AdMaS Centre and in setting the rules for its further development.
