Urban Water 2026 Conference: FAST BUT to Contribute to the Professional Programme
StartEnd
On 1 and 2 October 2026, the professional conference Městské vody (Urban Water 2026) will take place in Velké Bílovice. This year’s jubilee edition will mark 25 years since the conference was first held. Over the course of its existence, it has become an important platform for bringing together experts in water management, sewerage, wastewater treatment, urban infrastructure, design, operation and research. Academic staff from the Faculty of Civil Engineering BUT have also played a significant and long-standing role in preparing the programme.
This year’s programme of the Městské vody (Urban Water) conference will be opened on behalf of the Programme Committee by Petr Hlavínek, who will also give a presentation dedicated to 25 years of the conference.
The faculty will also be strongly represented in the professional programme:
- Zdeněk Dufek, Eva Vítková and Lukáš Dřínovský will contribute with the topic “Valuation of Stakes in Water Utility Companies Using the DCF Method.” They will focus on the valuation of water utility companies and the challenges associated with applying income-based valuation methods in this specific infrastructure sector.
- Jakub Raček will contribute to the presentation “Brno, Bauerova II – Water Supply Reconstruction, Part I.”
- Tomáš Chorazy will present “Use of Sewage Sludge from Household Wastewater Treatment Plants through Composting in Accordance with the Requirements of the Ministry of the Environment’s Forthcoming Methodological Guideline.” He will also chair a session dedicated to sewerage and wastewater treatment.
- Tomáš Macsek will present “Assessment of the Significance of Healthcare Facilities in the Flow of Pharmaceuticals in Wastewater” and will chair the Wastewater Treatment session.
- Jakub Kučera will present “Technologies for Decentralised Reduction of Pharmaceutical Residues in Wastewater” and will also contribute to a presentation on wastewater management in sensitive karst areas.
A National Conference with an International Reach
Thanks to its increasingly rich professional programme, the conference has been gaining international significance with each successive edition. Evidence of this is a dedicated “Science, Research” session conducted in English, which will open the programme on the second day. It will focus on current research topics in water management. Experts from a number of international institutions will take part, including Rzeszow University of Technology, BOKU Vienna, the University of Agriculture in Krakow, Ss. Cyril and Methodius University in Skopje, TU Košice, STU Bratislava, as well as FAST BUT.
The international session will cover topics including emergency water supply, water supply system security, blue-green infrastructure, drinking water quality, water hammer in historical gravity water conveyance systems, green roofs, impacts on sewer networks, and the design of urban water management measures. Its concept demonstrates that the conference provides a platform not only for sharing practical experience, but also for presenting research findings and developing international academic cooperation.
FAST BUT Will Be There!
The Faculty of Civil Engineering at Brno University of Technology will be represented at the conference not only in organisational terms, but also professionally and through research activities. Our academic staff will contribute to the programme, chair thematic sessions and present their professional contributions.
We would like to thank everyone who has taken part over the years for their active and long-standing representation of the Faculty at the Městské vody conference. Thanks to your efforts, FAST BUT has become an important partner in the fields of urban water management, technical infrastructure and sustainable urban development.
