The Brno University of Technology takes in the current THE (Times Higher Education) ranking for 2021 the shared 601th–800th place in the Engineering and Technology category together with the Prague University of Chemistry and Technology. This is the best placement of the evaluated Czech universities. Most other domestic schools are ranging between 801th–1000th place (Czech Technical University in Prague, Tomas Bata University in Zlín, The Technical University of Liberec, Czech University of Life Sciences Prague, Technical University of Ostrava and others).

The same position, the 601th–800th place, BUT also won in the categories Chemical Engineering (again a joint placement with the Prague University of Chemistry and Technology), Civil Engineering (BUT is the highest ranked Czech university here), Electrical Engineering (again the best placement of all Czech universities) and Mechanical Engineering (BUT also leads here).

Brno University of Technology is also placed in other categories. In the Computer Science category, BUT shares 501th–600th place, so it is about a hundred behind the best Czech representatives in this category. In the evaluation of Business and Economics, where ten domestic schools are represented in the ranking, BUT won the position 601+.
