Connecting teaching with practice - the FAST JOB DAYS 2023 are over.

The content is archived. Information may be outdated or misleading.

On Wednesday, February 22, 2023, the 5th year of FAST JOB DAYS Job Days at the Faculty of Civil Engineering ended, during which companies and public institutions cooperating with the faculty under the Partner Programme presented not only their area of operation but also, above all, the connection of study with practice. “We are glad that we were able to create a space for our students and our partners to establish cooperation. We care that students of our faculty leave not only with their degree and diploma but also with practical experience, which they can gain only by actively linking theoretical knowledge with practical use in their future building practice,” said Rostislav Drochytka, Dean of the Faculty of Civil Engineering at VUT.

Over three days, more than 1500 students attended the event, who agreed with representatives of individual companies on cooperation, summer job or the possibility of taking up employment and also had the opportunity to look behind the scenes of company culture. “It is great that we have such an event for students at the faculty. I myself take experience from practice as a very essential part of studying in the construction industry. Thanks to FAST JOB DAYS, we can get a better idea of what each company offers us, how it works for them and how we can realize ourselves there. And the optional subject, where companies can introduce themselves to us and mainly show what they are doing, was a great idea!” said Radka Juránková, a student of the 4th year of FAST VUT Building Management.

”We are really very satisfied. We had a chat with all interested students, some students showed interest in cooperation and therefore filled out a questionnaire. Thanks to this we can stay in touch and see how our cooperation will develop further. We were pleasantly surprised by the motivation of the students and the interest in linking theory with practice. The number of people interested in cooperation exceeds our possibilities, not all of us will be able to satisfy, we too will choose,” said Zuzana Vácová, head of the recruitment department at VINCI Construction CS.

The cooperation of companies and faculty is far from the end of the event itself. Presentations of individual companies, including contacts for personnel officers, will be available on the faculty's website for another six months. Within the Partner program of cooperation there will be many lectures, seminars and workshops with representatives of individual construction companies in this and next semester. "We try to bring our students as close as possible to the practical side of the field so that they know exactly what to expect before they start their work," concluded the vice-dean Zdeněk Dufek from FAST VUT.
