Launch your scientific career and start publishing

The content is archived. Information may be outdated or misleading.

In the summer term, PhD students have the opportunity to enrol in an optional course to help them with publishing, writing and research career strategies. The course is primarily aimed at first year PhD students, but anyone from higher years, early career researchers, even upper year Masters students who are thinking about a research career can apply. The course will be held at the KIC and will be a combination of e-learning and regular meetings. Participants register for the course via a link in Moodle.

Scientific Publishing from A to Z

This course is aimed at helping PhD students navigate the landscape of scientific thinking and publishing. Its great advantage is the opportunity to practice writing a scientific text in English and to get feedback on the text produced. After completing the course, the student will be familiar with the basic sources of scientific information, will be able to cite correctly the literature used, find the appropriate journal for his/her publishing activity, including in relation to the evaluation of science in the Czech Republic. He/she will gain practical experience in the production of a scientific text. He/she will learn about the publishing process and the benefits of foreign cooperation and trips.

Teaching is conducted in the form of blended learning through e-learning support Moodle (where study materials are placed) regular assignments with feedback and several seminars or individual consultations. Seminars will take place on Tuesday or Thursday mornings.

The course will be held in Czech, but if foreign students are interested, individual consultations in English can be arranged.

Registration for the course can be found at the link, abbreviation VPAZ FAST 25/25L.

The course is led by Tereza Šmilauerová from the Central Library of the BUT, who is also available for any questions or details.
