Development of the Czech landscape, landscape types, impact of human activities on landscape. Landscape character,
architecture and landscape, urban sprawl.
Landscape ecological stability, territorial systems of ecological stability.
Main reasons of landscape devastation by human activities, landscape devastation caused by mining activities, classification and types of landscape reclamation, new trends in landscape reclamation, controlled succession.
Water in landscape, water regime restoration, erosion control, soil protection.
Natural forest management, grasslands protection, invasive species.
Nature and landscape conservation, subsidies programs.

1. Introduction to landscape ecology. Nomenclature. Literature. Natural and cultural landscape.
2. Historical development of Czech landscape. Characteristics of Czech landscape. Urban sprawl.
3. Ecological stability. Landscape ecological stability. Categories of geobiocenical types.
4. Territorial systems of ecological stability. Examples of designes and realizations.
5. Main reasons of landscape devastation by human activities, degradational and recovery processes in landscape.
6. Characteristics of areas devastated by mining. Ways of reclamation. Biotechnical reclamation. Agricultural, forestry, hydric reclamation. Reclamation financing. New trends in reclamation, controlled succession. Examples of successful reclamation.
7. Importance of water elements in landscape. Wetlands, pools, ponds.
8. River systems restoration. Examples of successful river restorations in CZ and abroad.
9. Erosion control, soil quality and protection.
10. Natural forest management, grasslands protection, invasive species.
11. Architecture in harmony with landscape. Principles of good development practice in landscape.
12. Landscape formation programms. Subsidy programs for river restorations.
13. Convention on European landscape. Nature and landscape conservation. Legislation.

1. Introduction. Rules. Publications and on-line sources of information. On-line maps. 2. Landscape mapping methodology. Examples. Selection of the territory for mapping. 3.–4. Landscape mapping - terrain work. 5. Coefficient of ecological stability. 6. Design of territorial system of ecological stability. 7. Drawing up of project: Mapping and evaluation of landscape. 8. Presentations of individual projects. 9.- 12. Predicting soil loss from water erosion and solving of erosoion control on chosen area. 13. Control, completion, obtaining of credits.
