Type of bridges and technology of construction. Effect of prestressing. Modelling and analysis of bridges. Typical structures: flyovers, urban bridges, highway viaducts, bridges across rivers and deep valleys.
Special problems of design and construction of bridges built on the stationary and launch scaffolding, cantilever bridges, incrementally launched bridges, precast girder bridges, precast segmental bridges, arch bridges.
Suspension and cable-stayed bridges. Pedestrian bridges.
Bridges designed for effects of the mining subsidence. Bridges designed in seismic areas.

Syllabus
1. Continuous girder bridge: transport solution, design of a structure.
2. Schematic drawings (situation, longitudinal and cross section), structural model.
3. Load, material, interacting width, geometric characteristics.
4. Structural solution in longitudinal direction – load effects.
5. Design of prestressing reinforcement in critical cross-sections.
6. Design of cables trajectories, effects of prestressing, scheme of prestressing reinforcement.
7. Correction.
8. Evaluation for serviceability limit state – stress and cracks limitation.
9. Completion. Final correction.
10. Design submission. Credit.
