Entry Knowledge

Basic methods of measurement, computer principles, data processing, input and output computers operations, knowledge of the computers programming.

Aims

The graduate achieves the aim in the region of the quantity sensors and method of the electrical and non-electrical quantities measurement. He will learn about the conversion of the non-electrical quantities to electrical ones and he obtains the knowledge of the processing this signal by the computers. He acquires the application possibilities in the area of civil engineering.
Knowledge in the field of sensors and methods of measuring of the non-electrical and electrical quantities. Orientation in the field of transfer non-electrical quantities to electrical or optical signals and knowledge of the converted signal processing using computer technology. Knowledge and application overview of the opportunities and current trends in measurement.

  • 1. Introduction: - automation from the point of view of physics, computers in the measurement process, economic benefit, qualitative benefit.
  • 2. Process automation
  • 3. Microcontrollers - management, hardware, software
  • 4. Control, bus, protocols
  • 5. Mathematical logic, binary system, Boolean algebra, representation of numbers
  • 6. Basics of electricity, circuits, electrical elements, simple electrical circuits in the process of automation, control and regulation
  • 7. Sensors and converters between electrical and non-electric quantities: sensors of pressure, temperature, mechanical stress, changes in length, changes in volume, amplifiers, filters, multiplexers, counters
  • 8. Programming in Python or Matlab using instructions to control devices
  • 9. Use of automation and regulation in the construction industry
  • 10. Excursion: demonstration of specialized research instruments.
  • 11. Processing of signals and data
  • 12. Application for environmental development
  • 13. Discussion, selection of student topics
