Knowledge related to urban roads from urban network to urban road design. The first part of the subject will be devoted to historical development of urban settlements, i.e. urban roads and road systems in areas of development. Further, urban road definition and its categorisation. Individual categories will be characterised by basic design parameters. The chapter urban road intersections will be devoted to basic urban road intersections and way of their solutions. There will be studied both intersections at grade and grade-separated intersections. A separated part will be devoted to superior road networks. The last part will be devoted to modern trends in traffic engineering, i.e. urban environment humanisation, calming traffic in particular localities of city settlement areas.

Knowledge related to urban roads from urban network to urban road design.

Knowledge

Students are able to design urban roads, streets and intersections under uncomplicated conditions and draw and print a lay-out of plans. Students finalize project documentation according to the czech standards. They are able to assess alternative solutions and find optimum.

1.–2. Introduction to the first MK, urban structure settlement areas and big cities. Functional classes of MK.
Second width arrangement of urban roads.
3. Cross sections – details.
4. Design elements of local roads according to CSN 73 6110 from January 2006.
5. Grade crossing.
6. Forums, a place outside the road, passing bays, turning movements and tertiary roads in the city.
7. Roundabouts and their use and application according to our and foreign regulations.
8. Pedestrian crossings and places for crossing.
9. Decree 398/2009 and of the urban roads under this Decree.
10. Motion parking lots, bus stops and public transport.
11. Design traffic calming, pedestrian zones, public spaces and residential areas.
12. Design trails for cyclists.
13. Basic information traffic engineering.

Basic knowledge of road construction technology and design of roads and highways, mastering work on the PC (Acad ...)
