Reconstruction of Building

Academic Year 2023/24

AH051 course is part of 1 study plan

B-P-C-APS (N) / APS Winter Semester 4th year

Building-technical and building-historical research of the building and determination of structural technical and humidity condition of objects. Taking measure and drawing current state of the object. Dentification characteristic failure and defects of buildings, by external sign, analysis of failure causes in relation to external and internal factors. Specificity of modern projection, reconstructions and rebuild of objects.
Failures and reconstruction of masonry construction, concrete (reinforced) and wood construction. Rehabilitation of higher objects humidity. Development of building laws in Bohemia and Moravia in relation to historic used construction systems and principles. Teaching is continuously attend of selected sample realized solution of building reconstruction and rehabilitation.

Course Guarantor

Institute

Objective

Project documentation processing, survey of present objects condition, execution of structural technical investigation, project production for reconstruction and modernization of building

Knowledge

Student will be able to make a constructively-technical research of the building including targeting of actual status. On the basis this documentation wll be able to manage a project creation for reconstruction or modernizing a building.

Syllabus

1. Basic notion, life of buildings, analysis of causes clustering and building defects.
2. Surveying of present state of objects.
3. Structural technical and humidity exploration of buildings.
4. Development of building laws in Bohemia and Moravia in relation to using construction systems.
5.Specific principles for reconstruction and modernization object projection.
6. The cracks saving in building objects.
7.Failures of vertical load and unload-bearing structures (walls, poles, pillar, partitions) and their rehabilitation.
8.Additional establishing wall opening, defects of horizontal constructions (lintels and ceiling).
9. Failures and rehabilitations historic constructions (foundation, arches, trusses).
10. Stairs- defects and chances of rehabilitations. Failures and renovation of floors.
11. Causes analysis of moisten construction buildings, humidity transport in constructions.
12.Methods of measurement of moisture construction, modern mechanical rehabilitation methods.
13. Chemical methods of additional water-proofing, electrophysic methods of humidity saving, methods of structural measures.

Prerequisites

Basic knowledge from subjects building construction, physics relating to construction, load-bearing construction and structural mechanics.

13 weeks, 1 hours/week, compulsory

Syllabus

1. Introduction to practical classes, conditions for obtaining credits. Individual assignment of the semester work. 2. Building technical survey, field sketch, photographic documentation. 3. Individual fieldwork – survey and measurement of the present state of object, collection of the necessary documents. 4. Technical drawings of the existing state of the chosen object. 5. Design of rehabilitation and reconstruction works of the selected building. Drawing according to the Czech standard ČSN 013406:1987, i.e. “coloured drawing”. 6. Individual assignment focused on the reconstruction works of vertical structures (newly created openings) or horizontal structures (reconstruction of roof truss, foundations, staircases, etc.). Elaboration of technological process, scheme of the various stages, incl. structural details. 7. Consultation lesson. 8. Drawing of rehabilitation and reconstruction works according to the Czech standard ČSN EN ISO 7518 (ČSN 01 3439), i.e. “black and white drawing”. 9. Consultation lesson. 10. Project of rehabilitation of damp masonry – documentation of the existing state of the object with the marking of moisture failures. Moisture survey of the chosen building. 11. Project of rehabilitation of damp masonry - concept for rehabilitation: method selection for the rehabilitation of the chosen object, drawing of the suitably selected rehabilitation method in the project documentation, technological process of work performed. 12. Consultation lesson. 13. Semester work submission and final assessment.
