Vice Dean for Bachelor’s and Master’s Studies

The Vice Dean for Bachelor’s and Master’s Studies is primarily responsible for:
- Strategy concerning activities within the Vice Dean’s scope of responsibility – developing the vision and conceptual direction of bachelor’s and follow-up master’s study programmes in line with the Faculty strategy determined by the Dean.
- The coordination and development of study programmes – the coordination and development of bachelor’s study programmes (hereinafter BSP) and follow-up master’s study programmes (hereinafter MSP) taught in Czech and English; methodological guidance of study programme guarantors; management of the Degree Programmes Boards.
- Accreditation – preparation, submission, and amendment of accreditations of bachelor’s and follow-up master’s study programmes.
- Study programme administration – admissions procedures for the BSP and MSP, enrolment of first-year BSP students, organisation of state final examinations (hereinafter SFE) for the BSP/MSP, graduation ceremonies, recognition of previous education (including lifelong learning and mobility programmes), and decision-making in study-related matters; administration and ongoing validation of student register data for accredited BSP and MSP.
- Teaching operations – preparation of timetables and supervision of teaching; support for gifted students; scholarship policy; coordination of student accommodation and catering.
- Educational projects – coordination of projects within the framework of development tools of the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports and relevant European programmes.
- Mobility and cooperation – creation of conditions for outgoing and incoming student mobility, recognition of previous learning; cooperation on information provision and the promotion of mobility with the Vice Dean for Marketing and Internationalisation.
- Promotion and recruitment – cooperation with primary and secondary schools (competitions, presentations); participation in the promotion of study programmes in connection with Faculty marketing.
- Study and Information Centre (SIC) – professional and methodological management of the SIC in the area of bachelor’s and follow-up master’s studies.
Cooperation and Cross-cutting Areas:
- Mobility and internationalisation are carried out under the responsibility of the Vice Deans for Studies (Bachelor’s and Master’s Studies, Doctoral Studies and Internal Affairs) in cooperation with the Vice Dean for Marketing and Internationalisation.
- Study and Information Centre (SIC) – professional and methodological management of the SIC is carried out by the relevant Vice Deans (for Bachelor’s and Master’s Studies, and for Doctoral Studies).
- ITC (Information Technology Centre) – conceptual and methodological cooperation with the ITC in the areas of digital support for studies, R&D and internal Faculty processes is the responsibility of the respective Vice Deans, in cooperation with the Faculty’s Chief Financial Officer and relevant bodies of BUT.
All vice deans, in cooperation with the management of Brno University of Technology, the Dean, the Chief Financial Officer, and responsible staff members of the Faculty, shall in particular:
- ensure compliance with legal regulations relating to higher education institutions and with the internal regulations of Brno University of Technology and the Faculty,
- assess the effectiveness of the Faculty’s internal regulations and submit proposals for their amendment,
- implement the strategic plan of Brno University of Technology and the Faculty; within the scope of their responsibilities, they shall submit proposals for updates to it,
- implement the Dean’s decisions, directives, and instructions and, within the scope of their responsibilities, ensure the supervision of said regulations,
- actively participate in the Dean’s advisory bodies; within the scope of their responsibilities, they shall manage, coordinate, or provide methodological guidance to the relevant commissions, working groups and advisory bodies of the Faculty, provided that their establishment, composition, or activities arise from the Faculty’s internal regulations or from a Dean’s decision; they may also establish their own advisory bodies,
- ensure the organisational and substantive arrangements are made for the holding of appropriate academic ceremonies within the scope of their responsibilities,
- prepare source materials for the Faculty’s promotional and information materials in relation to their area of responsibility,
- cooperate in addressing matters related to the AdMaS Centre and in setting the rules for its further development.
