Water Games 2023

The content is archived. Information may be outdated or misleading.

On Thursday, 27 April 2023, from 15:00, the Water Games 2023 took place in changeable weather. The event took place in the area behind Building Z on the premises of the Faculty of Civil Engineering of the BUT, i.e. behind the home building of students from the Water Management and Water Structures (V). The Games were organised by the Council of the Continuing Studies Programme (CSP) Civil Engineering - Water Management and Water Structures. The exclusive sponsor of the Games was, as every year, the Prof. Šerka Foundation. The competition was for the beautiful and smiling Drop of the Year 2023, which was made in the Water Research Laboratory. The games were intended for all students studying in the V. The aim of the games was to bring together the collective of students in the V programme so that students could get to know each other better, exchange valuable advice and experiences and improve their professional estimation and "water" skills.

Five teams participated in the competition, divided by year of study: 2nd year Bachelor of Science (BSc), 3rd year BSc, 4th year BSc, 1st year NSP and 1st to 4th year PhD. The 62 competitors competed in five events specially prepared for 2023 with the titles: jump, fill, sweeten, transport and blow. The competitors competed bravely, determinedly and fairly, cheering each other on mightily. The event was held in a friendly spirit, which was confirmed by the smiles on the faces of the competitors, organizers and guests. The guests also tried out the various disciplines and made a request to compete in future editions as an alumni team.

The winning team of each discipline received three fresh pizzas at the awards ceremony, which came in very handy after completing the challenging disciplines. Second and third place teams also received awards. Teams that won multiple disciplines collectively shared the prize money with the other teams, so it went to all the competitors. However, only one team can be the winner of the 2023 Water Games, and that was the 1st NSP team that won the 2023 Drop of the Year. Congratulations to the winning team!

After the games, liquid refreshments were available for consumption and the participants exchanged their experiences and impressions of the games until the evening hours, thus fulfilling the main objective of the games.

Drops from earlier years are displayed in the display case located on the 4th floor of the Z building.
