Several dozen sportsmen and women students have entered the Sportsman of the Year 2024 poll of Brno University of Technology. Based on their outstanding results in union and academic competitions, the top 10 were selected.

The second place in the poll went to Lucie Dittrichová from the Faculty of Civil Engineering of BUT, who excelled in orienteering. In her discipline, she has been among the best Czech athletes since her junior years. Last year she won all four championship titles in individual competitions.

The first place belongs to the shooter Martina Matějková from the Faculty of Business at the BUT. Martina became European and World Team Champion in 2024. She also represented the university at the AMS in sport shooting in India. Jakub Homola from CESA BUT won the third place for his sporting performance in triathlon.

30 sportsmen and sportswomen arrived at the festive meeting at the end of January 2025 and were presented with their awards and congratulated by Vice-Rector Iveta Šimberová, Vice-Rector Miroslav Doupovec and Bursar Daniela Němcová and CESA Director Hana Lepková.

In addition to the top ten student athletes, three top academics of Brno universities and two outstanding para-athletes were also awarded. During the ceremony, the academic champions of the Czech Republic in individual and team sports, as well as successful representatives who have made a name for themselves in university and European competitions, also shone.
