Information from the Dean of the Faculty of Civil Engineering at Brno University of Technology regarding measures against the spread of coronavirus

The content is archived. Information may be outdated or misleading.

In accordance with the “Recommendation of the Rector of BUT due to the spread of coronavirus”, which is published on the Brno University of Technology and Faculty of Civil Engineering websites, university staff and students arriving from high-risk areas affected by the COVID-19 coronavirus epidemic are advised to avoid going out, attending classes or working at the university for a vitally necessary two week period, even if they are not showing any symptoms of the illness.

Students these measures concern will be allowed to take study leave. Such students should inform their teachers via email.

Employees these measures concern will be allowed to work outside the workplace (i.e. from home) after agreeing this with the head of their department. If necessary they will be given – after agreeing this with their head of department – leave of absence from work, which will be considered an obstacle to work from the employer’s side according to § 208 of the Labour Code.

Furthermore, in accordance with the “Recommendation of the Rector of BUT due to the spread of coronavirus”, the Dean of the FCE BUT does not recommend that any employees or students travel to any of the countries affected by the virus, or to which the Ministry of Health or the Ministry of Foreign Affairs does not recommend travelling. Heads of departments are also advised not to arrange business trips for employees to these areas.

FCE employees and students are also advised to adhere to the increased hygiene measures which are aimed at limiting the spread of infectious diseases. Disinfectant soap dispensers and informative notices were placed in the university’s toilets last week.

Those who are ill and infected with, e.g. the common flu are advised to seek appropriate treatment outside the workplace in accordance with the applicable incapacity-for-work regulations, or to take advantage of alternative options for adjusting their working regime in such a way as to reduce the risk of spreading the infection in the workplace.

If a business trip abroad has been already planned and costs would arise because of its cancellation, it is necessary to contact the insurance company and deal with the cancellation fees for the cancelled business trip on an individual basis.
