Geodesy and Cartography
Abbreviation: BPC-GK Code: B0532A260001 Type of study: bachelor's programme
Awarded degree: Bc.
Level of qualification: bachelor's (first level)
Awarded qualification: Bc. in the field of "Geodesy and Cartography"
Program description
Bachelor's study programme with Full-Time Mode of Study in Czech
Study aims
The division of the three-year bachelor's study program Geodesy and Cartography is based on and continues the tradition of long-term study programs at the Faculty of Civil Engineering of Brno University of Technology (hereinafter "Faculty of Civil Engineering BUT"), which meet current demand and needs of technical practice in the Czech Republic and the European Union.
In terms of content, the study program is designed to meet the requirements of:
- Act No. 111/1998 Coll., on Higher Education Institutions and on Amendments to Other Acts, as amended (hereinafter referred to as the “Higher Education Institutions Act”),
- Government Order No. 274/2016 Coll., on standards for accreditation in higher education,
- Government Regulation No. 275/2016 Coll., on the areas of education in higher education
and all in accordance with the methodological materials of the Board of the National Accreditation Office for Higher Education and the documents of BUT and the Faculty of Civil Engineering of BUT.
The study program is taught in the Czech language in the full-time form of study. The study program enables the mobility of students and the completion of part of the study at other selected universities with a similar focus.
The aim of the study is to acquaint students with theoretical and practical aspects of performing the surveying profession. The study covers a wide area from mathematical-physical foundations, through planar geodesy, adjustment calculation, real estate cadaster, engineering, satellite and theoretical geodesy to the knowledge of the organization of surveying services and related legislation.
A partial goal is also the preparation of students for the follow-up master's degree program in Geodesy and Cartography.
After successful completion of the final state examination, the graduate is entitled to use the title "Bachelor" (abbreviated to Bc. before the name).
