Objective

To obtain fundamental knowledge in the field of contructions of roofing, external walls, windows, doors and gateways in external walls, windows in roofs of building, to aquire theoretical and functional relationship, to gain experience and ability for design.

Knowledge

Student will be able to make a proposal solution of contructions of roofing, external walls, windows, doors and gateways in external walls, windows in roofs of building

Syllabus

1st to 4th Staircases and ramps. General design principles. Constructions of staircases. Staircase in monolithic reinforced concrete skeleton. Prefabricated string staircases in reinforced concrete, steel or wooden material variation. External stairs.
5th Ladders – terminology, a brief overview of structural requirements. Railings – terminology, technical requirements – min. height, rail fillings, handles. Elevators – principles of cable and hydraulic elevators, types of elevatoes: passenger elevators, cargo and good elevators, etc., requirements on building structures.
6th to 7th Foundations of buildings. Shallow foundations – building foundations adjustments, foundation on the neighbour border. Sub-structure of buildings with or without basement, basements lighting and ventilation shafts.
8th to 9th Damp-proof courses, construction principles and the design of movement and expansion joints in buildings.
10th to 11th Floor finishes: technical properties, design requirements, floor layers, types of floor finishes – examples of floor finishing compositions.
12th to 13th Plasters, paints, coatings and paint, tiles. Soffits and suspended ceilings.

Prerequisites

Fundamental knowledge of physical and mechanical characteristics of basic building´s materials, knowledge of Physics, Descriptive geometry. Knowledge of soil types and its charcteristics, the issue of the foundation methods according to the construction and soil type, shallow and deep foundations. Foundation depth, load at the footing bottom – including soil mechanics subject. Ability to proceed – based on architectural study – a part of project documentation (ground plans and section) for the building realization, including ceiling construction design and blueprint – excluding roofing.
