Syllabus

1.–2.Failures and defects of building materials (design, documentation, realization). 3. Evaluation of individual types of aggressive media and their effect on building materials (gases corroding concrete, determination of water aggressiveness on reinforced concrete structures, types of water corroding reinforced concrete structures. 4. Types of water corroding reinforced concrete structures, hygroscopic solid substances corroding concrete, mineral fats and oils, microbiologic effects influencing concrete corrosion). 5.–7. The mechanism of concrete destruction and the reinforcement corrosion (corrosion of metal inserts in concrete, cracks formation and shelling initiated by corrosion, corrosion of reinforced structures reinforcement by effect of vagabond currents, penetration of chlorides, carbonation, sulfating, galvanic corrosion, corrosion of prestressed ropes during additional prestressing ,effect of aggressive chemical substances, degradation by frost effect, calcareous expansion, magnesium expansion, alkaline reactions of aggregates, sulphates attack etc.). 8.–9. Corrosion of reinforced structures reinforcement by effect of vagabond currents, penetration of chlorides, carbonation, sulfating, galvanic corrosion, corrosion of prestressed ropes during additional prestressing. 10. Effects of moisture. Heat effects. Load effects. 11.–13. Methods of concrete protection. Methods of reinforcement protection, Theory of concrete rehabilitation. Surface treatment – analyses, strategy, design. Demands onrepair materials and selection of these materials. Surface treatment.
